Rocket
Rocket is an energetic and invigorating practice that has its roots in Ashtanga vinyasa. Anchored to the rhythm of the (ujjayy) breath, this is a playful practice where students have the opportunity to try advanced postures such as arm balances and inversions. Options and challenges for all levels will be provided.
Ashtanga
Ashtanga is a system of yoga codified by Pattabhi Jois. Linking breath and movement, students move through a set sequence of asanas that purify, strengthen and give flexibility to the body. This is a traditional practice, the foundation of all vinyasa classes.
Vinyasa/Dynamic vinyasa
Vinyasa is a playful and creative practice that links movement with breath in one smooth continuous flow. Vinyasa means “to place in a special way” in Sanskrit, and refers to a practice designed to develop and refine concentration so that it becomes single-pointed and unwavering. Every class will have a different theme.
Mandala
A creative and dynamic practice, moving 360 degrees around the mat, flowing to the rhythm of the breath. The sequences are designed to target specific areas of the body corresponding the element -air, fire, water, earth- and related chakra of the day, as per the Mayan calendar. The classes begin and close and with yin postures to balance the subtle and physical body.
Yin
A deeply nourishing and introspective practice that cultivates a deep sense of awareness through stillness. An antidote to urban life, Yin focuses on releasing the connective tissues of the body – tendons, ligaments and fascia. Poses are usually held between three to five minutes, allowing practitioners to still the mind, observe the inner movement, release tensions beyond the physical plane.
Methodology
My teaching approach is functional. Taking into consideration the uniqueness of each body’s structure, my instructions and adjustments focus on target areas and energetics. I encourage students to explore their bodies and experience the poses, allowing them to deepen their body awareness and move in and out of postures safely and mindfully.
